St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), through its Research Ethics Committee (SPUP REC), proudly affirms its commitment to upholding the highest standards of ethical review and protection of research participants. For the term October 30, 2025 to October 29, 2026, the SPUP REC continues to serve as the University’s institutional mechanism that ensures research protocols are reviewed with integrity, competence, and strict adherence to established ethical guidelines, under the leadership of Chair, Ms. Rita Daliwag, together with its dedicated committee members and support staff.
This commitment is further strengthened by the formal recognition granted by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) under the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS). The SPUP Research Ethics Committee was awarded a Certificate of Accreditation as a Level 1 Research Ethics Committee, with Accreditation No. L1-2025-060-03, effective 30 October 2025 until 29 October 2026. The certificate was conferred on March 18, 2026 in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, signifying that the SPUP REC has fulfilled the PHREB requirements and is granted the obligations and privileges that come with this accreditation.
Notably, the SPUP REC is the only PHREB Level 1 Accredited Research Ethics Committee in Region 2, reinforcing SPUPs leadership role in promoting ethically sound, responsible, and quality research in the region. Through this accreditation, SPUP REC strengthens its capacity to support researchers, safeguard participants, and contribute to the advancement of research that is ethical, credible, and aligned with national standards.
