

SR. MERCEDITAS SHARES SPUP'S INNOVATIVE STUDENT SUPPORT PROGRAM IN HLU CONFAB

The 5th Annual Conference of Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) was hosted by Negros Oriental State University and co-hosted by Silliman University, St. Paul University Dumaguete and Siquijor State College. This year, the convergence was participated in by delegates from the Philippines, Bosnia, Egypt, South Korea and Taiwan. After the preliminary program and discussions of the keynote speakers, educational leaders were invited to present innovative programs implemented by their respective institutions.
On July, 9, 2025, Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) presented SPUP’s Innovative Program for Nurturing Student Progress, Inclusion, and Resilient Engagement (Project INSPIRE). The said program, designed for Student Support and Engagement spells SPUP’s commitment to holistic and transformative student development. Accordingly, the project integrates innovative strategies and value formation to promote academic excellence, emotional intelligence and resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity.
Sister Merceditas highlighted the four essential components of project INSPIRE. These are Innovative Academic Support (Future-ready learning strategies that enhance student academic success and value formation.), Innovative & Strategic Collaboration (Partnerships and collaboration with industry, government and non-government agencies, and private organizations, to enrich student competencies with real-world work experience and resources.), Innovative Resilience Support (Initiatives aimed at strengthening emotional intelligence and resilience through psycho-spiritual integration and social learning programs.), and Innovative Learning (Technology-enabled strategies that accommodate diverse learning styles and promote academic and sustainable community engagement.) The presentation was held at St. Paul University Dumaguete.
