SPUP SHARES HOPE AND FAITH THIS PASKUHAN 2025 THROUGH “BLESSINGS BEHIND BARS”

St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP), in collaboration with the SPUP Alumni Association (SPUPAA), marked Paskuhan 2025 through a meaningful Christmas outreach for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) dubbed “Blessings Behind Bars.” The outreach activities were held at the Cagayan Provincial Jail (CPJ) in Carig on December 9, 2025, and at the Tuguegarao City District Jail (TCDJ) facility in Cataggaman on December 15, 2025, both in Tuguegarao City. This initiative reaffirmed SPUP’s enduring commitment to inclusive evangelization, compassion, and service that extends beyond the university community.
Led by Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC, (University President) the SPUP academic community joined the PDLs in commemorating the Birth of Our Lord through the sharing of the Word of God, songs of praise, agape fellowship, fun-filled games, and thanksgiving. As an annual apostolate, Blessings Behind Bars nurtures solidarity and hope by bringing together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and partner institutions in a shared celebration of faith and human dignity. Generous sponsorships from the SPUP community and alumni groups, including High School Batch 1972 and JFINEX Batch 1996, made possible the distribution of Christmas gifts to the PDLs, further expressing care and goodwill.
Officials from TCDJ and CPJ conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the SPUP community for its sustained partnership in supporting the spiritual formation and moral upliftment of the PDLs. The PDLs likewise expressed their appreciation, describing the outreach as a deeply meaningful and uplifting way to celebrate Christmas. In turn, the SPUP community thanked the jail administrations and the PDLs for their warm welcome and for allowing them to share in the joy, hope, and blessings of the Christmas season.
