
FACULTY MEMBERS SHARE GROUNDBREAKING STUDIES AT INTERNATIONAL TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY CONFERENCE

Tabuk City (November 13–14, 2025) – Faculty members from the College of Hospitality Management of the School of Business, Accountancy, and Hospitality Management (SBAHM) represented St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) in the International Conference on Entrepreneurship, Tourism, and Hospitality Research (ICETHR). The two-day conference, hosted by Kalinga State University, served as a global platform for sharing emerging insights in tourism and hospitality. The HM and TM delegation showcased research outputs across key thematic areas—demonstrating the University’s strong commitment to advancing scholarship and sectoral development.
Under the Agritourism, Ecotourism, and Ecosystems category, Dr. Marie Krizya Calagui (Community-Based Tourism in Callao Ecotourism Zone, Peñablanca, Cagayan), Dr. Jenie Ann Canapi (Influence of Consumer Behavior on Tourist Satisfaction), and Dr. Mary Dayan Serquiña (Status of Agritourism in Northeastern Cagayan) presented studies highlighting community-based tourism potential, agritourism growth, and behavioral drivers of visitor satisfaction. Notably, Dr. Calagui, Dr. Serquiña, and Dr. Canapi were recognized as Best Paper Presenters, affirming the relevance and rigor of their research contributions to the evolving tourism landscape.
In the Innovations and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) category, Mr. Mark Leo Gante (Walking the Talk: Evaluating the Walkability of Tuguegarao City as a Pathway to Sustainable Tourism Development) and Ms. Myla Orolaza (Risk Management Practices of Hotels in Tuguegarao City) emphasized sustainable mobility and hotel resilience through their studies. Their works reinforced innovation as a driver of progressive tourism management. During the plenary, Ms. Orolaza also received the Best Paper Presenter award, while Mr. Gante was conferred the “Golden Voice of Research” citation for his outstanding and impactful oral presentation.
The participation and recognitions earned by the faculty delegation underscore SPUP’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence, research leadership, and meaningful engagement with pressing issues in tourism and hospitality. Their studies provided theoretical and practical insights that support sustainable development, community empowerment, and industry innovation.
