St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) conducted employees’ evelopment session entitled “Clarity Under Pressure: Systems-Based Tools for Employees’ Performance and Well-Being” on February 25, 2026. The activity brought together Paulinian administrators, faculty members, staff and personnel in a collaborative effort to strengthen leadership clarity, resilience, and sustained performance. By fostering dialogue around effective strategies for managing pressure and promoting well-being, the session emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing educators who are both professionally competent and personally balanced.
The first session was led by Ms. Hena Muhammad Zubair (USA), a youth advocate and mentor, who explored the dynamics of stress in educational leadership through a cross-cultural perspective. She highlighted the critical role of structured work practices in clarifying priorities, while also emphasizing the need for flexibility to support both student and faculty well-being. Ms. Zubair shared actionable strategies for balancing professional responsibilities with self-care, encouraging participants to adopt approaches that maintain resilience without compromising performance.
The main presentation was delivered by Dr. Michael Montalbo Young (USA), a scholar, educator, and systems thinker, who examined stress and cognitive load through a systems-based framework. Dr. Young illustrated how unmanaged cognitive demands can hinder work performance and shared practical tools for restoring clarity under pressure, including somatic regulation techniques and other evidence-based stress management strategies. Through this engagement, SPUP reaffirmed its commitment to cultivating globally competent, mission-driven educators who are equipped not only with technical expertise but also with the mental clarity and resilience necessary to excel in their roles. Initiatives like this highlight the university’s dedication to personal and professional development, advancing academic excellence while prioritizing the well-being of its employees.
