The Information & Communications Technology Department in partnership with the Human Resource Management Office conducted a three-day face-to-face workshop entitled “AI in Action: Transforming Learning Experiences with OpenLearning” at St. Paul University Philippines on December 4–6, 2025. The acivity served as part of SPUP’s Faculty Development Program.
The workshop aimed to equip faculty members with foundational knowledge and practical skills in designing engaging online courses using the OpenLearning platform. The sessions were led by Marsyitah Ismail, Education Technology Solutions Expert of OpenLearning, who served as the resource speaker for the entire program. Through her expert guidance, participants were introduced to innovative strategies for integrating artificial intelligence into course design and delivery.
Over the three days, participants learned how to utilize OpenLearning’s AI-powered tools to create course structures, generate content and activities, design assessments, and manage grading through the platform’s gradebook. The workshop also emphasized designing active learning experiences that promote collaboration, reflection, and meaningful student interaction.
The final day featured a course showcase and peer review, where participants presented portions of their developed courses and received constructive feedback. The program concluded with a reflection activity and the awarding of certificates, marking the successful completion of the Faculty Development initiative.
This workshop highlights SPUP’s continued commitment to innovative teaching, digital transformation, and the professional growth of its faculty in response to the evolving landscape of higher education.
