SPUP SHINES WITH MULTIPLE WINS AT ICIA 2025 IN VIETNAM

St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) showcased exceptional prowess at the International Creativity and Innovation Awards (ICIA) 2025, held from April 25 to 27 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Demonstrating the ingenuity and hard work of its students, SPUP’s Basic Education Unit (BEU) secured several accolades across diverse categories, further cementing the institution’s reputation for academic excellence and innovation.
In the Innovation Challenge category at the ICIA 2025, the students demonstrated its students’ inventive prowess by securing two bronze medals. The first, awarded for the “Innovative Fruit Wax” project, was developed by Niña Krisanta Tugade and Zeanne Marithe Pavia, showcasing an innovative approach to enhancing the longevity and safety of fruit products through an eco-friendly coating. The second bronze medal went to the “Food Bot”, conceptualized by Claire Antonio, which aims to revolutionize food management and accessibility through technology-driven solutions. Both projects highlight the institution’s commitment to fostering creativity and addressing real-world issues through student-led innovation.
In the Innovation Award category, the students secured an impressive total of four silver medals and one bronze medal, underscoring the institution’s dedication to advancing innovative solutions. The silver medal-winning “Compati-Soil” project, developed by Jahnrodz Fermin, Joseff Kyle Balubal, and Kate Berbon, offers sustainable solutions for agricultural productivity and soil health. “Project Lifeline”, an AI-powered robot for predictive healthcare management, earned another silver medal for its creators Mariella Evanica Bangay, Kian Clarel Bunagan, and Shemiah Ezra Quitoriano, reflecting their forward-thinking approach to healthcare solutions. Meanwhile, “ShelfGuard”, a project by Janez Kiley, Angelo Tuddao, and Giana Abrigo, also garnered a silver medal for its innovative stance on product preservation and consumer safety. The “Pauli-Aid” project, led by Shaina Leaño, Chester Quinan, and Wenzel Natividad, received recognition for its advancement in emergency response systems, securing yet another silver medal for SPUP. Lastly, the “SIDS: Smart Irrigation Drip System”, created by Zachiebelle Avril S. Canapi and Princess Joy R. Garcia, was awarded a bronze medal for its promising contributions to efficient water management in agricultural practices. Together, these achievements highlight SPUP’s commitment to nurturing student ingenuity and providing solutions to pressing global challenges.
Additionally, “Compati-Soil” received a Special Award for Agriculture, recognizing its significant contributions to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship. Further distinguishing itself on the international stage, SPUP was designated as the National Selection Partner by KRYA Global, highlighting its commitment to promoting Filipino youth innovation globally.
SPUP’s exemplary performance at ICIA 2025 underscores its dedication to fostering creativity, enhancing global competencies, and contributing meaningful solutions to real-world challenges.
