St. Paul University Philippines – Community Development Center (SPUPCDC) in partnership with ChildFund Philippines and in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Apayao conducted a two-day seminar-workshop on “Brigada Pag-Basa: Capacity Building for Teachers on the Development of Audio Lessons on Beginning Reading for K1-Grade 3.” The activity held on March 28-29, 2022 at Luna Central School, Luna, Apayao, bannered the theme: “HEAR HERE: Thriving in the New Normal through Audio-Based Learning Modalities.”

The seminar-workshop was participated in by teachers from sixteen (16) public elementary schools in Flora and twenty-two (22) public elementary schools from Luna District.  Also present during the seminar were Mrs. Joy D. Saleng, (CID Chief Education Supervisor) Dr. Richard Simisim, Ms. Jeanalyn Farinas, and Ms. Juliet Ragojos (Education Program Supervisors).

PSDS Wilfreda Gamiao (Luna District) and Mrs. Noemi T. Cabaddu (Director, Community Development Center) welcomed the participants and expressed commitment to support the professional development of teachers especially in the new normal. In her video message, Sr. Merceditas O. Ang, SPC, (President, SPUP) enjoined the teacher-participants to “embrace teaching not only as a profession but also as a lifetime mission with intrinsic and eternal rewards”.

Dr. John Kit Masigan, (Faculty Member, Basic Education Unit and Graduate School) and Mr. Mark Antony Artis, (DepEd Gonzaga and SPUP Graduate School Student) served as resource speakers and workshop facilitators of the said educational undertaking.
