Ms. Mardilyn Garcia, BS Social Work student, was recognized as one of the three recipients of the Youth Heroes Awards 2020 by the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace – Pilipinas (IAYSP – Pilipinas).

Out of 200+ applicants, 25 qualifiers and 10 finalists, ages 15-30 all over the Philippines, Ms. Garcia, President of Paulinian Volunteers for Community Development (PVCD) – UNESCO Club, together with Mr. Crisol T. Cate Jr., Local Youth Development Officer, BSYO Antipolo, and Mr. Raymond Emmanuel Arcadius C. Manning, SK Chairperson of the Sangguniang Kabataan of San Isidro, Taytay, Rizal, surmounted the final round wherein they presented their projects and responded to the queries of the Board of Judges. The announcement was relayed in the IASYP-Pilipinas Official Facebook Page on April 20, 2021.

Supposedly, IAYSP awards 2 recipients from each nation only. However, having a tie with the judging result made the IAYSP – Pilipinas appeal to the International Headquarters of IAYSP to grant the awards to these three Youth Heroes.

IAYSP Youth Heroes Award is given to exceptional youth and young adult leaders who have catalyzed a global culture of peace and sustainable development through their projects and have shown phenomenal acts to bring a positive, lasting impact on their community.
