December 17, 2020 – St. Paul University Philippines extended assistance to flood-stricken communities brought about by the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses in the Cagayan Valley region. SPUP’s Community Development Center Foundation Incorporated (SPUPCDCFI) spearheaded the SPUP Community Action Responding to Emergency Situation (SPUP CARES) program as the service-arm of the university in its relief operations and recovery efforts to the communities.
Through the generous support of various organizations and corporations, family and individual donors, and partner institutions, the SPUP CARES program has provided assistance to more than 15 thousand families in the city of Tuguegarao, and in the municipalities of Alcala, Penablanca, Baggao, Lal-lo, Gattaran, Solana, Enrile, Aparri, Amulung, Piat, and Iguig in the province of Cagayan and in the towns of San Pablo, Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas and Cabagan in the province of Isabela.
SPUP’s Community Extension Services office coordinated with the leaders of each locality while University administrators, employees, students, and alumni volunteered their services in the relief and recovery operations.
