St. Paul University Philippines collaborated with Polteknik Kesehatan Kemenkes Palangka Raya, Indonesia in conducting an online Health Forum and International Seminar (HFIS) on November 9, 2020. The virtual academic convergence highlighted the theme: “The New Normal: Creating a Pleasant Virtual Communication” to address the issues on communication barriers in virtual learning.

Dr. Dhini M. Kes (Director, Poltekes Kemenkes Palangka Raya) virtually welcomed the speakers and the more than 900 participants comprised of students and professionals from Canada, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, Germany, and Indonesia.

The roll of speakers and their respective topics included: Prof. Adrew J. Macnab (Editor-in-Chief of Global Health Management, Canada) on “Why and How to Write Up Your Research as a Scientific Paper,” Dr. Yeyentimalla (Poltekes Kemenkes Palangka Raya, Indonesia) on “Emotion Awareness for Fun Digital Communication,” Ms. Eva Tallutondok (National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Science, Taiwan) on “Learning Effective Communication from Taiwan Government to Combat COVID -19,” Dr. Sri Suryawati (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia) on “Discussing Sensitive Issues In Virtual Forum,” and Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (President, St. Paul University Philippines) on Positive Convergence of Quality, Technology and Sustainability of Learning in the New Normal.” An interaction between the speakers and the participants was ensued in the open forum. Closing statements were also given by the speakers.

The forum and seminar, sponsored by Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia, Gerakan Masyarakat Hidup Sehat (GERMAS), Global Health Management Journal (GHMJ) and Indonesian Scholars Alliance, were streamed live in Poltekes Kemenkes Palangka Raya Facebook Page and Youtube channel.
