Sr. Ma. Fe Policarpio, SPC and Sr. Guadalupe Merceditas Pacis, SPC, celebrated their Diamond/Golden Jubilee, respectively, at the SPC Sisters’ Convent Chapel of St. Paul University Philippines, Tuguegarao, at 10:00 A.M., on August 15, 2020, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Main Celebrant of the Eucharistic Celebration was His Excellency Most Reverend Ricardo L. Baccay, D.D., Archbishop of Tuguegarao, with Rev. Fr. Bernard B. Corpus, Rector and Parish Priest of St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral, and Rev. Fr Jake Dennis T. Ordillo, Chancellor of the Archdiocese, as Concelebrants.

Archbishop Baccay, in his homily, highlighted the significance of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as the meaning of a Religious Jubilee, especially at this time of the pandemic when the jubilee celebration becomes a private affair of the Sisters,  with no distractions, with no visitors. The Sisters become closer to one another as a Community, with more time for prayer and deeper reflection on the things that really matter.

The Archbishop congratulated the two Jubilarians for their fidelity in their religious calling –  for 60, 50 long years, in spite of life’s ups and downs, but above all, for God’s own fidelity and abiding presence in sustaining them in the living out of their vowed life. Such is the abiding love of God for His chosen ones. God is ever faithful and true.

The celebration of the Sisters’ Jubilee (Silver, Gold, Diamond) is customarily held at Our Lady of Chartres Convent (SPC Provincialate), at Antipolo, as one big celebration every year, for each kind of Jubilee; however, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Jubilee Celebrations this year are held in the respective SPC Local Communities where the Jubilarians are assigned.

The aforementioned Diamond/Golden Jubilee event was simple and private, but solemn and memorable, with the Sisters of the Local Community giving all their beautiful voices, with several singing rehearsals under the direction of Sr. Veneranda del Rosario, in charge of music and liturgy. The Chapel and the Sisters’ Refectory just looked festive with beautiful flowers arranged by the artistic hands of Sr. Maria Lirio Gavan, the Local Superior, assisted by the young Sisters.

After the liturgical celebration, a simple but fitting agape followed at the Sisters’ Refectory.
