SPUP’s educational innovations were featured in a webinar organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) – Region II on May 29, 2020. The said virtual convergence bannered the theme:”Flexible Learning in Higher Education: Embracing the New Normal.”

Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President), who served as the speaker, highlighted the innovations instituted by the University in response to the New Normal. She began her discussion by presenting the practices of SPUP in the implementation of its Flexible Learning Management System – comprising of synchronous and asynchronous learning, online and offline activities, and learning packets. Accordingly, these are all contained in the published SPUP Learning Continuity Plan.

Sr. Merceditas also covered SPUP’s journey in the realization of its eLearning System through the various undertakings of the University such as the Distance Education program, automated transactions, digitized library and online access, e-books and Robotics, Transnational Education (TNE), offering of Coding Education, use of Augmented Reality and Simulations and the Learning Management System.

She also explained that SPUP employs innovative and adaptive educational strategies towards Flexible Learning. These are: the SPUP Moodle (eDIS) as an alternative learning platform for instructional delivery beyond classroom for the Graduate School; the GENYO eLearning platform of the Basic Education Unit; the Learning Management System (LMS) for the College level; the SPUP Student Information and Accounting System (SIAS) designed to automate transactions in the student services, registrar, cashiering, accounting and teachers, parents and student access; and, the e-building capacity program of the University for teachers through seminars and trainings.

Sr. Merceditas added that SPUP is also currently utilizing Online Registration in all levels, Online Placement Examination for college, and Online Viewing of Grades.

The webinar culminated with an open forum, sharing of insights, exchange of information, and acknowledgment of the speaker.
