Aiming to recognize the contribution of youth to nation-building and as a sequel of the Values and Service Learning Sessions relevant to the 2019 Year of the Youth celebration, SPUP conducted Values and Service Learning Seminar on January 11, 2020 at the BEU Gymnasium.

Themed as “Values and Service Learning Seminar: Role of Students Today and Tomorrow,” the goal of the aforementioned seminar was resonated by Mr. Brendan Jansen Tangan, PSG Alumni, and John Kit Masigan, SPUP Faculty.

As a Youth Focal Person of DSWD FO2, Mr. Tangan focused on community based leadership, inspiring total participation of student-leaders using their potentials in moving progress and strengthening their respective communities.

Conversely, being a teacher and a Philippine Youth Ambassador, Dr. Masigan emphasized the significance of knowing their functions and purpose that suits them best as youth-leaders when rendering service in the society. 

Meanwhile, Sr. Merceditas O. Ang, SPC, University President, addressed her welcome remarks, emphasizing that this kind of activity cultivates the capacity of the young people to renew the society through early formation of their values and embodying the basic tenets of leadership such as simplicity, humility and willingness to sacrifice.

Also, series of revitalizing team building activities were done aiming to internalize values that can be applied in their service to the community. Serving as the final session of Values and Service Learning series, the activity was attended by 150 student-leaders coming from the different schools in Cagayan.
