Caritas Christi urget nos!
St. Paul University Philippines (SPUP) and St. Paul Hospital of Tuguegarao (SPHT), in colloboration with SPUP's Alumni Association (SPUPAA), Christian Formation (CF) Office, Graduate School (GS) and Community Extension Services Office, celebrated Paskuhan 2016 with the inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at Catagamman on December 13, 2016 and the Cagayan Provincial Jail (CPJ) at Carig on December 14, 2016, both in Tuguegarao City. SPHT community led by Sr. Edith Christine Aguirre, SPC joined the SPUP community led by Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC in the Christmas celebration with the inmates dubbed as “Blessings Behind Bars.”
Held annually, the said apostolate, gave an opportunity to the inmates and to the members of SPUP and SPHT to commemorate together the Birth of our Lord through sharing of the Word, praises, agape, fun-filled games and thanksgiving. The management of BJMP and CPJ through Ins. Ericley Louise Lazaro (Tuguegarao City District Jail Warden) and (Ret.) Col. Leonardo dela Cruz (Provicial Jail Warden) expressed their gratitude to the SPUP and SPHT communities for being their partner and collaborator in the spiritual development of the inmates. Meanwhile, the inmates also uttered their appreciation to the outreach activity of SPUP and SPHT as their way of celebrating Christmas. SPUP and SPHT communities also thanked them for welcoming them to share the joy of the Yuletide Season.
(SPUP’s Prison Apostolate is conducted by the Christian Formation Office, headed by Sr. Merecedes Bacaoco, SPC. Mr. Hollis Sibal, (Head of CF Outreach Services) coordinates the activities to the management team of both correctional facilities. SPUP students, faculty and alumni actively participate in the said engagement activity.)
