THE PAULINETTE IS REGION 2’s BEST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PAPER; JOURNOS WIN 7 SPOTS

SPUP’s Community Extension Services (CES) served as the coordinating body of the Bangon Luzon 2.0 project of the National Association of UNESCO Clubs in the Philippines (NAUCP) Inc. The said undertaking aimed to extend assistance to the victims of Typhoon Ompong in Cagayan.

The Paulinette, the official publication of St. Paul University Philippines Grade School, was hailed as the Over-all Best Elementary School Paper-English, among the 43 entries which vied for the most coveted title. This was declared at the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) on November 17-21, 2018 in the City of Ilagan, Isabela. Meanwhile, Grade School’s Campus Journalists secured 7 winning spots in the regional tilt, and produced 2 qualifiers for the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC).

The Paulinette won 1st place for Best Feature Section; 2nd for Best Editorial; 2nd for Best Sports Section; 3rd place in News Section; 3rd in the Science and Technology Section; and, 3rd Best Layout and Page Design.

For the campus journalists, Gianna Addun, bested 62 other journalists in the entire region as she clinched 1st place in Copyreading and Headline Writing for Elementary-English. Meanwhile, Sheryl Therese Reyes bagged the championship title for Column Writing-English.

Placing 4th in Editorial Writing-English was Yanny Valera. Joining the 7 winning spots were Shayne Garcia as 8th Place in Column Writing-Filipino; Venn Baldino as 9th Place in Science and Technology-Filipino; MK Genobili who won 10th Place in News Writing-English; and, BreeanaValdez as 6th Best Anchor for Radio Broadcasting-English.

Dr. John Kit Masigan, the Paulinette Adviser served as the coach of the Paulinian grade school journalists.
