A delegation of four Nursing students and two Faculty members of the College of Nursing of Naresuan University (Thailand) led by Dr. Pratuma Rithpo was welcomed by Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) on April 9, 2018. They came to the University for their International Academic and Cultural Immersion program in SPUP’s College of Nursing.
From April 9 to 19, 2018, the Thai students participated in the activities of SPUP Nursing students such as: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions; and, hospital and community duties. They attended lectures on BSN curriculum, Nursing Art Laboratory and Community Health Nursing and had their hospital duty at the Saint Paul Hospital (SPH) and at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC). The team also paid a visit at Barangay Tagga (Tuguegarao City), the model community for COPAR approach and had their community duty at Barangay Union in Cabagan, Isabela, together with the Third Year Nursing Students. They were also led to a University tour and were brought around Tuguegarao City and to the Historical Churches of the Our Lady of Piat (Cagayan) and of San Pablo (Isabela).
The culminating activity was held on April 20, 2018, where the Thai students relayed their immersion experiences through a video presentation. They also performed a cultural dance as a way of thanking SPUP and the College of Nursing. The team expressed their gratitude and gladness for a productive international academic and cultural immersion. The SPUP Nursing students also delivered their parting words and serenaded their Thai friends. The program ended with a thanksgiving message of Mrs. Girlie Jordan (International Nursing Coordinator).
