Mr. Carlos Babaran of the School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE) presented SPUP’s Technological Innovations, Best Practices and Robotics in the 2018 Technology in Education Benchmarking at St. Mary’s University in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on April 19, 2018.
With the theme: “A Bold Vision for K-12 STEM Teaching and Learning to Prepare Students for Lifelong Learning” the said forum was participated in by school administrators and teachers of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) from the Ilocos and Cagayan Valley regions.
Highlights of the activity were the discussion of Mr. Jerome Lo (Chief Learning Officer, EduSpec) on STEM Education; and, the presentation of School Technological Innovations, Best Practices & Robotics by Dr. Moises Alexander T. Asuncion (VP Academics, St. Mary's University) and Mr. Carlos Babaran (IT Faculty Member, St. Paul University Philippines). It also included Classroom Demonstration on Robotics.
In his discussion, Mr. Babaran emphasized the following aspects of the University’s IT Innovations and Robotics Education: SPUP’s learning environment conducive to IT and robotics education as manifested in its upgraded laboratories and high-end facilities; SITE as a Center of Development in IT and a Microsoft-Certified testing center, the establishment of a Start-Up Innovation Center for Applications Development, Graphics and Animation, Artificial Intelligence, and Big Data Analytics; Systems Development by faculty and students; Integration of Robotics in the Basic Education Curriculum; faculty and student Academic Exchange Program; and, Computer and digital literacy outreach program.
