December 15, 2017 - The second day of SPUP 3rd International Research Conference (IRC) continued with concurrent sessions 4-8 which foregrounded on health care, policy and governance, social sciences and humanities, ASEAN integration, internationalization of education, intercultural studies, peace education and spirituality.
After the concurrent sessions, the plenary session followed in the afternoon. The third resource speaker, Dr. Michel Plaisent, a professor at University of Quebec, in Montreal, Canada discussed about “Technology and Education: Convergence Towards Peace and Social Transformation,” he emphasized how crucial the ‘widespread adoption of high-tech solutions has changed the whole approach towards teaching’ and shared on the h4th industrial revolution work skills that proves how in more developed countries, creative work is produced because of how digitally invested these skills are. He concluded his talk with a quote from David Warlick, “For the first time in history, we are preparing our students for a future that we cannot clearly describe.”
In an interview, Mr. Rey Acob, a faculty of nursing in Visayan State University and a paper presenter said it is his third time and had attended the very first SPUP International Research Conference: “I am glad that SPUP holds these kinds of conferences because for every time I go back [in VSU], I have had banked new knowledge from other local and international paper presenters to address my own institution’s improvement in research.”
