SPUP’s 75th Commencement Exercises on June 17, 2017 highlighted the theme: “Global Competencies in the 3rd Millennium: Opportunities and Challenges.” The occasion celebrated the academic success of Batch 2017.

The Baccalaureate Mass was presided by Msgr. Edgar Agcaoili (Vicar General, Archdiocese of Tuguerao) and was concelebrated by Fr. Noel Sibbaluca, Fr. Macario Malano Jr. and Fr. Adalbert Barut. In his homily, Msgr. Agacaoili challenged the graduates to be “Salt and Light” of the world. “As salt serves as preservative, Paulinian graduates are called to preserve the world from corruption and hatred; while, as light, graduates are called to be beacons of hope and faith as testimony to Paulinian Education,” he said. The Eucharistic Celebration also incorporated the solemn Rite of Mission Sending. As the graduates prayed for their Missionary Promises, the congregation imparted their blessings on them.

At the University Grandstand, the Graduation Ceremonies was made meaningful by the Commencement Address of Dr. Yung-Lung Lee (President, Chang Jung Christian University, Taiwan) read by Dr. Huey-Min Sun (Vice President, Chang Jung Christian University, Taiwan). In his message, Dr. Lee narrated how Chang Jung Christian University (CJCU) hurdled challenges from its humble beginnings to the present; while, it continues to position itself as a premier educational institution in Taiwan. Accordingly, the success of CJCU is the result of looking-forward vision and faith in God. He emphasized that values are at the core of global competencies. It is because of this that students are ought to learn to love God, love people and treasure natural and cultural resources.

In the Graduation Rites, Sr. Ma. Althea Alfonso, SPC (Master of Arts in Education) led the Graduates' Prayer. Chester Karl Manuel (BS Secondary Education, Cum Laude) read the address of petition followed by the presentation of the graduates by Dr. Agripina Maribbay (VP Academics). Subsequently, Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President) conferred on the graduates the titles and degrees of their respective courses and programs. Ms. Lorraine Pingad (BS HRM-TM, Cum Laude) expressed the gratitude of the graduates through her valedictory address.
