With its aim to facilitate transition and to enable faculty members of Higher Education Institutions (HEls) to the new General Education Curriculum (GEC), SPUP led the conduct of Second Generation Training for the Teaching of the New General Education Core Courses for College Faculty Members of HEIs in the Region. Held on May 22 – June 08, 2017, a total of 25 teachers participated in the said training.
Endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) – Region 2, the training focused on UNDERSTANDING THE SELF (“Pag-unawa sa Sarili”) and SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND SOCIETY (“Agham, Teknolohiya, at Lipunan”). Tapped by CHED as trainors, Dr. Anna Marie Hernandez and Ms. Wilma Udanga cascaded their learning as they have participated in the Training of Trainors for the New General Education (GEC) Core Courses last January 4-20, 2017.
For the subject on Understanding the Self with Dr. Hernandez as the trainor, the trainees were: Ms. Lynnia Angobung, Ms. Chanda Aquina, and Ms. Jackelyn Tamang (HG Baquiran College, Tumauini, Isabela), Ms. Monina Badua and Mr. Joel Quiñones (University of La Salette, Santiago City), Mr. Kerwin Bayot (St. Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya), Mr. Ervic Cabading (St. Joseph College, Baggao, Cagayan), Ms. Visitacion Caldez (Maila Rosario College, Tuguegarao City), Ms. Jaycel Granil (Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College, Santiago City), Ms. Faye Anne Liban (MCNP-ISAP, Tuguegarao City) and, Ms. Claudeth Gamiao and Ms. Teresita Lasam (St. Paul University Philippines, Tuguegarao City).
Under Ms. Udanga, as trainor, on Science, Technology and Society, the participants were: Ms. Josephin Bariuan and Ms. Meloween Bosquiña (St. Paul University Philippines, Tuguegarao City), Ms. Marlina Basilio (University of La Salette, Santiago City), Ms. Angelica Cabia and Mr. Jilbert Gumaru (HG Baquiran College, Tumauini, Isabela), Mr. Emerson Cuzzamu (Tarlac Agricultural University, Camiling, Tarlac), Ms. Jovelyn Detablan (Aldersgate College, Nueva Vizcaya), Mr. Revimar Dulin (MCNP-ISAP, Tuguegarao City), Ms. Riza Emily Roque (St. Ferdinand College, Ilagan City), Mr. Randy Tabaog (AMA Computer College), Ms. Joan Taroma, (St. Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya), Ms. Brigida Tesani (Maila Rosario College, Tuguegarao City) and Ms. Frayzle Faith Tolentino (Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College, Santiago City).
Moderated by Ms. Evelyn Pacquing, the Closing Program was held on June 8, 2017 with Dr. Agripina Maribbay conveying her felicitations to the participants for completing their intensive training. In return, representatives of the attendees sincerely expressed their thanksgiving to the trainors, organizers and SPUP.
