Caritas Christi urget nos!
SPUP’s College of Medical Technology with its goal of delivering health empowerment to the community spearheaded a Medical Mission on May 25, 2017 at Barangay General Balao, Solana, Cagayan. The said activity forms part of the service learning program of the College as the outreach activity treads on the services Medical Technologists could offer.
The said engagement activity was made possible through the support of the University’s Community Extension Services (CES), represented by Mrs. Mamie Magbanua, Local Government Unit of Solana (LGU—Solana), led by Brgy. Capt. Ernesto B. Parana, and Faculty members, alumni and students, led by Ms. Victoria B. Acorda (Associate Dean, Medical Technology).
Having previously assessed zones 1-7 of Barangay General Balao, the medical mission was conducted in culmination of the course on Community and Public Health of second year students. 400 residents availed of the diagnostic services including; urinalysis, nail-clipping (for children), glucose determination (for seniors), and blood-typing.
Interpretation of the results of the services will be on May 31, 2017, another scheduled service learning activity, which will be spearheaded by the College of Medical Technology and the School of Medicine.
