The Mathematical Modeling Organization of the Philippines (MMOP) concluded its 2017 Mathematical Modeling National Conference on February 4, 2017 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Training Center (Global Center) of St. Paul University Philippines. With the theme, “Propelling Change through Mathematical Modeling,” the final leg of the conference featured the presentations of Dr. Joel Addawe and Dr. Juancho Collera, both from University of the Philippines – Baguio (UPB), on mathematical modeling and research; and, Mr. Roldan C. Bangalan, of SPUP - School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) on Symmetry and Patterns.
This year’s conference aimed to promote programs and present model activities for math enthusiasts and practitioners to develop professional competence and excellence in the field of mathematical modeling. The three-day conference, which commenced on February 02, 2017 at the Cagayan State University, was participated in by students, teachers, educators, modelers, researchers and math enthusiasts from the Cagayan Valley Region and nearby provinces.
Three of SPUP’s Graduate School students are at the helm of MMOP- Mrs. Erovita Teresita Agustin (President), Mr. Joel Casibang (Vice-President) and Mr. Roldan C. Bangalan (Secretary) are currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics Education (PhD-ME) program.
