The Association of Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC) conducted its 50th Anniversary Convention on February 1-3, 2017 at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Medicine and Public Health and Novotel Araneta Center, Quezon City. With the theme: “Educating Physicians in the 21st Century,” this year’s convention was made significant as the association celebrated its golden anniversary.
As a member school of the association, SPUP-School of Medicine (SOM) was represented by a delegation led by Dr. Geraldine Ramirez (Dean, SOM). With her were: Dr. Marco Polo Lasam, Dr. Winston Abena and Dr. Leon Caculitan – Faculty Delegates; and, Marjorie Kate Ulep, Corinne Fatima De Asis, Kevin John Albano, Florante Leaño III and Marfelle Czarina Sayoc – Student-Delegates.
The convention featured various activities like: an interactive tour at The Medical City, Quizbee Contests, Research Competition, the APMC- Student Network 15th Anniversary Dinner and Fellowship Night. It also marked the first Dr. Elena Cuyegkeng Memorial Lecture delivered by Dr. Ducksun Ahn, (VP, World Federation for Medical Education) entitled: “Adapting Medical Education to the Technological Revolution.”
The celebration culminated with a PAGDIRIWANG: APMC 50TH Anniversary Dinner, graced by Hon. Leonor G. Robredo, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines.
