SPUP’s School of Medicine (SOM) and University Health Services (UHS) actively participated in the activities of the 2017 National Cancer Awareness Week spearheaded by the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC). The SPUP delegation was led by Dr. Geraldine Ramirez (Dean, SOM) and Dr. Maricon Manuel (Head, UHS). Through Presidential Proclamation No. 1348 (s, 1975), this annual observance was slated every Third Week of January; wherein this year, it is scheduled from January 15-21, 2017. Participated in by health service-oriented institutions, health advocate groups and individuals, schools and professional health care providers, the week-long celebration was highlighted with a motorcade around Tuguegarao City on January 17, 2017. Moreover, a seminar relevant to the observance will be held on January 18, 2017 at the CVMC Function Hall. The said activities were meant to synchronize efforts towards the prevention and control of cancer by both public and private institutions and organizations.
SPUP’s SOM and UHS regularly conduct health-related information dissemination and activities promoting healthy lifestyle and living in the University and partner-communities. CVMC, on the other hand, is the base hospital of SPUP’s Medical Program and hospital affiliation for clinical exposure of the University’s Allied Health courses.
