As part of the continuing program of the School of Business, Accountancy and Hospitality Management (SBAHM) for their partner community, the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) initiated a culinary course for the Women’s Group of Brgy. Maguirig (Solana, Cagayan) and SPUP TODA (Tuguegarao City). The outreach program is held at the University Foods Laboratory, as the participants are fetched from their community to SPUP through the Community Extension Services (CES) Office. Comprised of lectures and demonstration activities, the program aimed to enhance the cooking skills of the participants as they are taught to prepare affordable, delicious and nutritious meals. Mrs. Elaine Avila, the Culinary Outreach Instructor, shared some practical tips and demonstrated ways on how to preserve the food nutrients of some vegetables common to their locality. After the input of Ms. Avila, HRM Faculty members and students facilitated the return demonstration of the participants, followed by the presentation of their output. It culminated with the participants, faculty members and students partaking of the meal they prepared. Sr. Merceditas Ang, SPC (University President), Dr. Corazon dela Cruz (Dean, SBAHM), Ms. Marie Krizya Calagui (Associate Dean, HRM) and Mrs. Noemi Cabaddu (Director, CES) witnessed the said activity.
